(CHUNGJU=Yonhap News) A comprehensive production and distribution facility for environment-friendly agricultural products has been established in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province.

Chungju City announced November 4 that it built a large-scale eco-friendly agricultural complex on the land of 13,569 square meters in Dangu-ri, Judeok-eup, Chungju City. A total of KRW 5 billion was injected to built the complex.

Establishment of the complex was initiated and organized by the Organic and Eco-friendly Agricultural Corporation, an association wholly owned by farmers.

The city expects the newly established agricultural complex will help market eco-friendly farm produce and in turn, boost farmers' income. The complex is also expected to contribute to supplying fresh ingredients for school lunches and promoting environmentally friendly farming.

In the long run, most of eco-friendly agricultural products grown from Chungju will be processed and distributed through the complex, according to the city.

Various experience programs will be offered at the complex to non-farmers so consumers can produce and process farm produce firsthand. 

"We now have low-cost and high-efficiency distribution system managed by farmers from production to distribution," said a city official.
