(CHEONGJU=Yonhap News) North Chungcheong Governor Lee Si-jong signed investment agreements worth USD 50 million with two Japanese companies during his visit to Tokyo, Japan.
Following the agreements, Japan-based photovoltaic equipment manufacturer and rechargeable battery components producer plan to build production facilities respectively in Osong, Cheongju and Megapolis in Chungju next year. Names of the companies were not disclosed.
Governor Lee pledged to provide full administrative support for the two companies when they set up businesses in the province.
On December 9, the governor will visit a trade conference taking place in Tokyo to encourage six North Chungcheong local companies participating in the event. Three of these companies will conclude export contracts with Japanese buyers.
He will also meet potential investors to talk about favorable investment environment of the province, which is emerging as a 'new metropolitan area', and will pay a visit to the Korean Embassy in Japan to ask support for the province's efforts to attract more Japanese tourists.
