(CHEONGJU=Newsis News) The Province of North Chungcheong and its 11 towns (si) and counties (gu) aim to attract KRW 7.5 trillion in investments in 2017, and have launched a full-scale effort to that end.

It was announced Feb. 5, that the 6th provincial, town and county governments had adjusted this year's as the governments' investment goal for the entire term has been raised from the initial KRW 30 trillion to KRW 40 trillion,

Last year, the governments were promised by 192 companies an investment amount of KRW 22.4067 trillion. As a result, the governments have succeeded in attracting a total of KRW 33.1175 trillion, exceeding the initial goal of KRW 30 trillion.

Each local government has set a specific investment goal: Cheongju-si setting the largest goal at KRW 2.25 trillion (30%), followed by Chungju-si at KRW 1.335 trillion (17.8%).

According to a source from the provincial government, "The governments will try to attract companies to move to the North Chungcheong from the greater Seoul area, as well as strengthen joint activities between the Province and its Towns and Counties to attract investment, by holding fam tours, industrial expos, and local info sessions."
