According to Yonhap News,

(BOEUN=Yonhap News) The county of Boeun-gun, North Chungcheong Province is set to emerge as the center for the Korean drone industry.

On Mar. 10, at the FKI Tower in Seoul, Boeun-gun signed an MOU on launching a pilot project for operating drones in the county, with 31 organizations and businesses, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Korea Institute of Aviation Safety Technology.

At the signing, representative Korean drone companies, such as Uconsystem of Daejeon and Sungwoo Engineering of Cheongju, agreed to participate in test flights at the new drone fly-zone scheduled to be built in Boeun.

Earlier this year, the country was selected as one of three local governments to carry out drone pilot projects by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Through the project, the county will receive KRW 2 billion in national funding to build a new exclusive drone fly-zone (airfield), complete with a runway and control center.
