(GOESAN=Yonhap News) A fruit farming complex is set to open in Yeonpung-myeon, Gesan-gun, North Chungcheong Province.
According to the county of Goesan on June 8, the county government will spend KRW 1.4 billion to build a fruit farming complex at the Ipseok District in Jeokseon-ri, Yeonpung-myeon by the end of next year.
Spanning 43 hectares of land, the new complex will be equipped with various facilities for growing fruit, such as a tube well, drainage channels, and farm roads.
Cultivation will begin in 2019, initially at 36 apple farms.
The county plans to nurture the complex into a hub for fruit exporters and major domestic distributors.
In Goesan, there are currently 635 apple farms across 467.8 hectares, 49 pear farms (16.3 ha), and 241 peach farms (200.1 ha).
