(GOESAN=Yonhap News) In an effort to nurture its tourism industry and vitalize the local economy, Goesan-gun of North Chungcheong Province has decided to offer incentives to travel agencies that attract tourists to the county.
Companies responsible for attracting tourist groups stay at accommodation facilities in the county and visit local tourist sites, school trip groups stay at accommodation facilities in the county, or for developing, promoting and selling tourist programs that utilize the county's tourism resources, will be eligible for the incentives.
The county also plans to lower the rent of shared property for tourist destination development projects by 20 to 30 percent.
A county source noted on November 1, "an ordinance bill to that effect has been recently announced for legislation for the purpose of attracting more tourists and thereby revitalizing the local economy," adding, "if the bill passes, the county will start working on the details of the new system and start offering incentives next year."
Through such support measures, the county plans to attract 3 million tourists next year.
