On May 30, Jecheon City, Chungbuk-do, announced it will be spending KRW 4.954 billion (50% national and 50% municipal budget) for small river maintenance projects in 5 districts.
The projects will cover 2.4km in 2 new districts (Gajeong River, Jaehyun River) and 3 existing districts (Ggolmi River, Dokjungmal River, Saeguri River).
The project will include flood prevention efforts as well as the application of eco-friendly construction methods to create a hydrophilic space in harmony with the surrounding landscape and the restoration of nature in the area.
A city representative stated, "About 34% of the projects have been completed and we will strive to achieve 60% before the rainy season."
