(CHEONGJU=Yonhap News) Chungbuk-do said on August 5 that Goesan-gun was selected to be nurtured as the key area of forest welfare and leisure and for the return to residential mountain villages.
As part of this Project, Goesan-gun will operate a support school for retired generation to successfully return to residential mountain villages, create common training forest using state-owned forest, and promote projects to create forest tourism complex.
It also plans to organize a mountain village network to co-exist with urban areas and implement job creating projects by promoting forest education.
Detailed implementation plans, budget plan and project site selection will be prepared by the professional consultant hosted by the Korea Forest Service by next year. Based on these plans, the project will be implemented by 2022.
An official from Chungbuk-do said, "It is to create sustainable settlement places using forest resources and to create eco-friendly industry and jobs."
