(CHEONGJU=Yonhap News) The trade surplus of the companies in Chungbuk Province was USD 1.389 billion, accounting for 20.1% of the country's trade surplus of USD 6.9 billion.
According to the Cheongju Customs, export volume of companies in the Province was USD 1.978 billion and the import volume was USD 589 million.
The export volume showed a year-on-year increase by 22.7% (USD 366 million).
The export volumes of semiconductors accounted for 44.6% (USD 882 million), electronics accounted for 15% (USD 296 million), chemicals accounted for 13.4% (USD 266 million), precision device accounted for 6.1% (USD 121 million) and general machinery accounted for 4.1% (USD 81 million).
The import volume also rose 9.9% (USD 52 million) from one year ago.
The import volumes of semiconductors accounted for 11.7% (USD 69 million), direct consumer goods accounted for 6.9% (USD 41 million), other resins accounted for 6.5% (USD 38 million), machinery accounted for 6% (USD 35 million), and dyes and pigment accounted for 2.4% (USD 14 million).
Chungbuk's major trade partners include Hong Kong, China, EU, Taiwan, Japan and the United States.
