Chungbuk's November trade surplus accounts to USD 1.4 billion, showing positive numbers for 9 years and 11 months

According to Yonhap News,

(CHEONGJU=Yonhap News) Chungbuk-based businesses are continuing their trade surplus for 9 years and 11 months since January 2009.

According to Cheongju Customs on March 17, the Province's companies exported USD 1.993 billion last month and imported USD 542 million, recording a trade surplus of USD 1.451 billion.

This amounts to a 29.4% of the country's overall surplus of USD 4.9 billion.

The Province's exports rose 5.9% (USD 111 million) from the previous year, while imports dropped 8.4% (USD 50 million).

The amount of exports by items of electric-electronic devices, blasting agents, precision devices increased 32.8%, 23.2% and 18.2%, respectively, from the same month previous year.

Semiconductor exports fell 3.5% from the same month last year; however, it accounted for the 43.5% of total exports, still holding the largest share.

An official from Cheongju Customs said that the export amount of semiconductors is comparable to that of normal years.

Items accounted for imports were: machinery 7.7%, organic compounds 6.7%, other resins 6.3%, semiconductors 6.1% and direct consumer goods 6%.

Chungbuk's major export destinations include China, Hong Kong and the EU, while major import countries include China, Japan and the U.S.
