(CHEONGJU=Yonhap News) Chungbuk-do took the first step to go ahead with an attempt to attract a Smart Farm Innovation Valley.
On February 22, The provincial government signed MOU with 9 organizations and companies including Chungbuk-do Office of Education, Chungbuk University, Jechon city, Semyung University to push for attracting a smart farm innovation valley.
The smart farm innovation valley is a kind of industrial complex, equipped with various functions encompassing production, training and research.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) plans to set up 4 innovation valleys in each region by 2022.
This MOU is the first step to apply for this project.
The province plans to submit its application to MAFRA with a preliminary project plan.
Provincial governor said, "We will put all-out effort in establishing the most exemplary smart farm innovation valley in the nation.
The province plans, if succeed in attracting this project, to create a smart farm innovation valley on the area of 22ha around Cheonnam-dong, Jechon-si, equipped with a center for the youth, living and other convenient facilities.
The project expense is expected to be around KRW 101 billion.
