North Chungcheong Prov. to establish a local PV, ESS testing ground
North Chungcheong Province announced on May 4 that the local authorities was able to secure financial resources worth KRW 10 billion as municipal project to establish a testing ground for quality inspection of photovoltaic/ energy storage system (ESS) was finally selected as part of national open contests of “2021 smart project to build out the technology base” led by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The project, expected to cost as much as KRW 16.5 billion over the next three years aims to putting value into the traditional energy industry, utilizing cross sectoral PV or rechargeable battery technologies so as to create new business opportunities in the coming years. By calibrating voltage range from DC 750V to 1500V to meet IEC standards, the provincial authorities started to get ready to accommodate new production plants to manufacture secondary cells and inspection facilities with updated tolerance boundary for the first time in Korea.
They set up another ambitious goal to improve resources and capabilities do develop innovations, while providing a one stop support solution covering the entire business cycle from HR training, piloting to product design and marketing process.
