Chungbuk Innovation City embarks on a city-wide program which aims to redesign the community as a model of smart education (called K- smart education). Jincheon-gun said the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) chosen North Cheungcheong Province as the possible candidate to implement the initiative.

Accordingly, the provincial will build out network infrastructure, used for non-contact education. The authorities will also develop 5G- based e-learning content and a smart school, fully capitalizing on an innovation open research lab set to be built this year.

In addition, the local government will run courses to specialize in fostering IT genius and to provide after school virtual classes for students in the community.

Reporting the total funds needed to complete the project as roughly KRW 5 billion, Jincheon-gun is now waiting for a state approval. To this end, the community leaders have already signed partnership deals in June with National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) and Jincheon Office of Education to push on the K- smart education.
