A groundbreaking ceremony for the (tentative name) Osong Convention Center, which will play a central role in the central region's MICE industry, was held at a new site located in Osong-eup, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju-si.
The ceremony was attended by Chungbuk's governor and Cheongju's mayor, among others.
The center, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023, will be built on the scale of two floors above the ground and one underground floor (total floor area of about 39,000 square meters).
It will be equipped with an exhibition hall where more than 500 booths can be set up, a large conference room (2,000 seats), 4 medium conference rooms (300 seats), and 4 small conference rooms (30 seats).

In addition, it will have a special exhibition hall, convenience stores, and a parking lot with a capacity of 1,500 cars.
The province and the city will also create commercial land (28,000 square meters) to house hotels and shopping centers, and residential land (7,500 square meters) in the nearby area.
In this project, a total of KRW 208.8 billion will be invested.
