Geosan-gun (county), Chungbuk-do announced on September 23 that it secured national funding of KRW 2.5 billion as it had been selected for 2020 Urban Forest Public Contest hosted by the Korea Forest Service.
As a result, Geosan-gun can implement projects of creating close-to-life forest (outdoor garden), smart garden, and fine dust prevention forest with a toal project cost of KRW 5 billion.
First, it will invest KRW 1 billion in creating close-to-life forest in the National Geosan Cemetery and the Army Cadet Military School to provide green resting space and reduce fine dust.
The county will also install an indoor vertical garden in an unmanned cafe in the Seongbulsan Recreation Complex.
In addition, the county plans tol invest KRW 4 billion to create fine-dust prevention forest around the Goesan High-Tech Industrial Complex by 2023 to reduce fine dust and noise.
It plans to actively utilize the locally produced landscape trees in urban forest tree planting construction.
