According to Yonhap News,
North Chungcheong Province stands at the center of a leap forward as the best powerhouse in the secondary battery field.
On October 27, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) held a launching ceremony for the 'Material, Parts, Equipment Specialized Complex Promotion Group' at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul and announced a plan to foster specialized complexes.
A promotion group for each specialized complex was set up, and Chungbuk launched a special complex promotion group for the secondary battery materials, parts, and equipment.
The launching of this promotion group follows the designation of the Ochang Science Industrial Complex in Cheongju as a specialized complex for secondary battery materials, parts, and equipment in February.
The materials, parts, equipment specialized complex is a cluster that integrates the value chain from materials and parts of core industries to finished products.
The promotion team for the secondary battery specialized complex includes organizations such as Chungbuk Technopark, Korea Electronics Technology Institute, Korea Battery Industry Association, Chungbuk Energy Institute for Industry-University Convergence, and Chungbuk National University.
On this day, Chungbuk Province, the MOTIE, Chungbuk Technopark, Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, and the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT) signed an MOU.
The promotion team will focus on discovering the demand for cooperation between companies, planning new projects, and supporting industry-academia-research networking activities.
In announcing the plan to foster the specialized complex, the promotion group said, "We will establish a foundation for the evaluation and analysis of the entire cycle from the development of core materials for secondary batteries to battery manufacturing and evaluation and analysis."
It plans to build an advanced analysis center for secondary battery material and parts in a specialized complex to support the full life-cycle, including the development of core materials for secondary batteries, starting from next year with support from the central government and Chungbuk-do.
Various projects are expected to take place such as a technology development project in which an anchor company (LG Energy Solution) and partner companies will jointly develop electrolyte additives, pouches, and high-safety modules, and a job-training project offering a practical program covering the latest secondary battery manufacturing process.
On the same day, promotion groups specializing in other materials, parts, and equipment such as semiconductors (Gyeonggi), display (Chungnam), carbon materials (Jeonbuk), and precision machinery (Gyeongnam) were also officially launched.
