Chungbuk-do said on January 15 that it had announced the '2022 Chungbuk-do Industrial Complex Designation Plan', which includes plans to create industrial complexes in the region.

According to the announcement, the new industrial complexes that have passed the deliberation by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport are 16 locations in the areas of 11,760,200 square meters.

By region, there are 5 locations in Cheongju, 4 locations in Chungju, 2 locations each in Yeongdong, Jincheon, and Eumseong, and 1 location in Okcheon.

The area of major industrial complexes are as follows: Bukchungju IC general industrial complex 1,697,000 ㎡, Eumseong Samsung Techno Valley general industrial complex 1602,000 ㎡, Ochang Nanotech general industrial complex 1504,000 ㎡, and Jincheon Megapolis general industrial complex 1395,000 ㎡, among others.

These industrial complexes are planned to go through designation procedures such as application for designation, collecting opinions from residents, i.e., public hearings, consultation with related organizations, and examination by the local industrial complex plan deliberation committee.
