According to Yonhap News,
The 2023 Eco-Friendly Energy Festival, a leading energy festival of Chungbuk-do, kicked off on September 21 at the hydrogen safety museum in Chungbuk Innovation City, located in Eumseong-gun.
The festival, which has been held under the name of "Solar Festival" every year since 2012, has been renamed this year by Chungbuk-do, for consideration of the industry's expandability.
This year's festival, co-hosted by Chungbuk-do and Eumseong-gun, and organized by Chungbuk Energy Institute for Industry-University Convergence, will continue until September 23 under the theme of expanding the base of carbon neutrality and transition of new energy industries focused on the hydrogen industry.
The event venue has been equipped with an energy promotion (policy) hall that provides an overview of the energy industry, an energy industry hall participated by energy research institutes, universities, and companies, and an energy education hall that provides exposure to various energy sources.
Major events include: an eco-friendly energy idea contest open to all people; an energy job concert, a symposium on the subject of fostering new hydrogen industries; academic conferences and seminars for industry, academia, research, and government; and a painting contest under the eco-friendly energy theme.
A provincial official said, "The festival is open to everyone for free," adding, "we hope everyone will enjoy the festival, learning about energy in an easy and fun way through various programs".
Meanwhile, Chungbuk has established the nation's best energy clusters, starting with the first solar industry special zone in Korea in 2011, the Energy Industry-University Convergence Zone in 2019, the Energy Industry Convergence Complex in 2020, the Specialized Complex for Materials, Parts, and Equipment of Secondary Battery, and Regulatory-Free Special Zone for Hydrogen Industry in 2021, and the Natoinal Advanced Strategic Industry Secondary Battery Specialized Complex in 2023.
