On October 16, Chungbuk-do signed an investment agreement with the International Tuberculosis Research Center, which is preparing to relocate to Osong, Cheongju.
The Center, currently located in Changwon, Gyeongnam-do, plans to build a office building and a building for experiment on a 10,335㎡ site in the Osong Advanced Industrial Complex in Cheongju with investment of KRW 30 billion by 2030.
The Center also agreed to make efforts to expand investment and hire local talent first during the process of carrying out the project.
The provincial government will provide administrative and financial support to smooth out the relocation of the Center.
The Tuberculosis Research Center, which was established jointly by the Korean and U.S. governments in 2005, has been leading the research and development of infectious disease vaccines, treatment and diagnosis in addition to tuberculosis elimination.
