Jecheon-si, Chungbuk-do will start creating a special natural healing zone in Uirimji Lake in earnest from June next year.

With the approval of the urban planning facility implementation plan for the creation of a special natural healing zone in Uirimji Lake completed, Jecheon-si said on December 13 that the expropriation of land will be completed by March next year, followed by cultural property sampling and excavation investigation from April to May.

After this process, construction will commence gradually from June for each specific project within the special zone.

The Uirimji Lake Natural Healing Special Zone is a project to create a healing and tourism platform under the theme of natural healing and eco-friendly agriculture, on which Jecheon-si is focused with a goal of enhancing tourism competitiveness.

On a total of 1.95 million ㎡ of site, ▲ Entrance to the Natural Healing Zone ▲ Solbangjuk Urban Ecological Rest Area ▲ Local Garden (Wood Culture Experience Center) ▲ Green Natural Healing Complex , and others will be created, while strategic projects for balanced regional development will also be carried out.

The project cost of KRW 176.3 billion will be invested by 2026. Of the net construction cost will be KRW 86 billion (excluding land compensation cost), KRW 68.6 billion won, or 80% has been secured as the government and provincial expenses.

It has also been planned to build an immersive media art center by attracting private investment in the special zone.

A city official said that "This special zone will serve as a new landmark in Jecheon, promoting the growth of the local tourism industry and revitalization of the local economy."
