Chungbuk-do and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province signed an MOU on mutual growth on January 8.
The two regions agreed to join forces in development of cosmetic and beauty industry, innovation of the bio health industry, advancement of welfare policies for the disabled, and revitalization of hometown-loving donation system.
Also, 'somehow ugly' agricultural products produced in Chungubk will be provided to cafeteria at Jeju Provincial Government, and sales and promotional booth will be operated at local agricultural products promotional events. Meanwhile, Chungbuk-style urban farmers will be dispatched to resolve labor shortages in Jeju's rural areas.
A provincial official said, "The main areas of Chungbuk and Jeju overlap, in such fields as agriculture and beauty", adding "we will do our best to ensure mutual growth through benchmarking and continued exchanges."
