According to Yonhap News,
In May, Chungbuk's semiconductor exports amounted to USD 884.76 million, up 32.1% year-on-year.
It is the largest export volume for May and the fourth-largest monthly export volume ever. The largest export volume was recorded in June 2022 (USD 981.34 million).
On June 26, Chungbuk Regional Headquarters of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) said that "Chungbuk's semiconductor exports showed a great upward momentum thanks to a rise in demand for memory semiconductors."
However, the total export record was USD 2.22 billion, down 5.2% from the previous year, due to sluggish performance of secondary batteries, materials, and solar power, which began in the second half of last year.
By country, exports to Taiwn (167.5%) and Thailand (118.5%) showed significant growth, in contrast to China (-10.8%) and the US (-28.7%), which are the Chungbuk's largest export markets.
KITA explained that exports of semiconductor to Taiwan and seaweed to Thailand rose.
An official from regional KITA said, "as the purchasing power of the global market is expected to gradually revive due to high expectations for global economic recovery, we will continue to provide support so that excellent local products to expand their reach globally."
