Eumseong-gun to build a green energy smart agricultural town...be completed in 2031

On July 16, Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk-do, announced that it will create a Green Energy Smart Agricultural Town in Pyeonggok, Sincheon, and Eupnae-ri (1.19 million square meters) in Eumseong-eup with an investment of KRW 487.3 billion, including local expenses, starting from next year to 2031.

The project is being pushed forward as Eumseong was recently selected as the "Green Energy Smart Agricultural Town Investment Leading District" by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Eumseong-gun will create smart farms (300,000 square meters) of experience and tourism type, rental-type, and export type, and build a hydrogen fuel cell power plant, a hinterland residential complex (2,100 households), and a smart farm complex support center.

The county will also develop the Eumseong Station area and create a convergence specialized complex (33,000㎡) utilizing big data of smart farms.

Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk Development Corporation, Korea East-West Power, and Korea Rural Community Corporation's Chungbuk headquarters will participate in the project.

The county will be in charge of creating investment leading districts; Chungbuk Development Corporation in site development; Korea East-West Power in building hydrogen fuel cell power plants; and Korea Rural Community Corporation in creating smart farms.

The county predicts that the completion of the project will result in KRW 570 billion in production inducement, KRW 240 billion in value-added inducement, and 3,600 job creation.

It also added that it expects to see carbon emission reduction of 60,000 tons per year and heating cost reduction of KRW 11.9 billion per year.
