On July 18, Eumseong-gu, Chungbuk-do said that it has been selected for a public offering project for the flower industry promotion area organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA).
Eumseong-gun plans to build a multi-purpose cultural center (500㎡) that will be home to education center, conference halls, and online distribution companies for flower farmers near the Geumwang-eup flower distribution center by investing KRW 4 billion including state funds from this year to 2026.
The county also plans to build a rental-type practice farms (1,200㎡) and flower shops(300㎡) for urban-to-rural migrants and young farmers interested in flowers.
An official from the county said, "Eumseong is the first to be selected as a flower industry promotion area in Korea," adding, "Eumseong will grow to become the center of the flower industry in Korea when this are is completed."
Currently, 468 farms are growing 115 hectares of flowers in the county.
