On September 3, HD Hyundai Electric, the electric power affiliate of HD Hyundai, said that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for a medium- and low-voltage circuit breaker factory in Cheongju Central Valley, Chungbuk-do.
The event was attended by Chungbuk's Governor Kim Young-hwan, Cheongju Mayor Lee Beom-seok, National Assemblyman Lee Yeon-hee (Cheongju Heung-deok), HD Hyundai Chairman Kwon Oh-gap, and HD Hyundai Electric CEO Cho Seok.
The new factory will be built as a smart factory that introduces the latest automation system. The facility is scheduled to complete construction in October next year.
HD Hyundai Electric plans to automate production lines and logistics and secure manufacturing competitiveness through systematic supply chain management based on artificial intelligence (AI) such as forecasting demand, managing materials and finished product shipment.
Low-and medium-voltage circuits breaker to be produced at the new plant, are part of distribution equipment that distribute and supply transmitted power, and block the inflow of additional power during power overload.
With the establishment of a new plant, HD Hyundai Electric plans to double its production capacity of low-and medium-voltage circuit breakers to 13 million units by 2030.
By doing so, it is expected to contribute to enhancing global competitiveness and revitalizing the local economy.
