On September 25, Chungbuk-do signed a Letter of Intent on Promotional Cooperation with Bangkok City in Thailand, agreeing to expand exchanges.
Chungbuk's Governor Kim Young-hwan and Bangkok's Governor Chadchart agreed to cooperate in various fields including culture, tourism, renewable energy, well-being, medicine, science and technology.
Governor Kim said, "we will endeavor to open a new chapter of global cooperation through stronger foundation for cooperation, including active medical tourism, foreign students attraction, and opening of direct flights to Cheongju International Airport.
Governor Chadchart said, "we are ready to actively participate in international cooperation with Chungbuk-do," adding that "we care most about air connection, such as opening of direct flights, we will try to get it done by contacting airline."
Chungbuk-do and the Chungbuk Cultural Foundation also signed an MOU to strengthen cooperation in the field of MICE (Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions, Exhibitions/Events) with the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau(TCEB) and the Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA).
