According to Yonhap News,
Cheongju City said on January 18th that about 1,900 Taiwanese tourists will visit the City from January 18th to February 7th with a chartered plane flying between Cheongju Airport and Taipei six times and Cheongju Airport and Kaohsiung five times.
The chartered plane has 182 seats and is operated for the winter vacation season. Tourists will enjoy a tour to Cheongju, Chungju, Seoul, and Suwon for four nights and five days.
This is the result from tourism briefing sessions at Kaohsiung and other regions conducted by Cheongju City in October.
The City plans to expand Cheongju-related tourism products to China and Japan, so that more tourists visit Cheongju through Cheongju Airport.
An official of the City said “chartered planes have plied between Cheongju Airport and Taiwan, but it is the first time to draw tourists with tourism products related to Cheongju,” and added “we will further promote tourism in Cheongju centering on international routes to Cheongju Airport.”
