CHUNGCHEONGBUK-DO < invest Korea

According to Yonhap News,

Export of Chungbuk-do (North Chungcheong Province), which surpassed USD 10 billion last year, is off to a good start this year.

According to a report released by Cheongju Customs on February 16th, Chungbuk’s export in January rose by 46.3% from last year to USD 999.65 million.

Although the figure is less than that of December, 2010, the export boom has continued on the back of the good performance of semiconductors, storage batteries, and articles processed with heat.

Import of January posted USD 621.5 million, resulting in the trade surplus of USD 378.15 million.

Chungbuk has recorded trade surplus for 24 months in a row.

An official of Cheongju Customs said “export has decreased slightly after four-month increase, but we are certainly on a good track, considering last year’s export exceeded USD 10 billion after posting USD 683 million export in January.”
