Ilyang Pharmaceutical completed its vaccine factory

Participants are cutting ribbons at the building dedication ceremony held at Geumwang Industrial Complex, Geumwang-eup, Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk-do on April 11th. The factory has the annual production capacity of the maximum 60 million doses.

 

Ilyang Pharmaceutical completed its vaccine factory within Geumwang Industrial Complex, Geumwang-eup, Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk-do (North Chungcheong Province) on April 11th, gearing up its operation in the influenza vaccine industry.

 

According to the company, the factory was completed about one year after the construction started on the area of 89,256㎡ with the total floor area of 13,361㎡. Its annual production capacity is 60 million doses at is maximum.

 

Especially, the company signed a supply agreement with GEEP Korea established by GEEP, the largest high yield embryo (HYE) producer in the world based in the U.S., for the stable supply of HYE. HYE is the essential core ingredient in the production of influenza vaccines. Under the agreement, Ilyang will get stable supply of efficient and quality fertilized eggs.

 

Ilyang Pharmaceuticals will hatch those fertilized eggs in its GMP facilities, and improve its productivity by automating the inoculation process and establishing cutting edge production facilities.

 

The pharmaceutical company expects that the new factory will enable H1N1 vaccines to be smoothly supplied in Korea and even be exported to other countries.

 

An official of the company said “the completion of the vaccine factory means that the control tower for developing vaccines in various areas is up and running,” and added “we will make the vaccine industry our new growth engine and strive to meet the domestic demand and export our products.”
