According to Yonhap News,
Chungbuk-do (North Chungcheong Province) said on April 15th that a factory for thin film solar cells of Hyundai Avancis, a joint venture created by Hyundai Heavy Industries and French glass maker Saint-Gobain, will be built in Ochang Science Industrial Complex.
The province said the joint venture will be equipped with production facilities for thin film CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) solar cells with the annual capacity of 100MW by injecting KRW440 billion by 2013.
The company is known to have the goal to become the world’s fifth largest company in the thin film solar cell sector by expanding its annual capacity to 400MW by 2015.
An official of Chungbuk said “when the plant is completed, about 1,000 new jobs will be created and Ochang's economy will be invigorated.”
