North Chungcheong Province(Chungbuk) said that it set up a plan to develop Chungbuk into a leisure, cultural tourist attraction to attract 70 million tourists by 2014.

Under the plan, water sports town will be built in Danyang, and culture town will be created in Chungju.

The middle part of the province will be transformed into a tourist attraction that features well-being life such as a forest healing center in Osong, Chungwon. The southern part of the region will become a green and eco-friendly tourist attraction.

A total of KRW 5.2 trillion will be injected to increase tourism infrastructure.

In order to reinvigorate declining Mt.Sokri tourism district, construction of King's hot spring and cable cars in Mt.Sokri was suggested.

U-Tourpia tourism information service in which tourists can easily find information on major tourist attractions through smart phones will be in operation, and a festival for Chinese students studying in Korea will be held.

A provincial official said that the province will attract 70 million tourists by 2014 by holding a meeting to find ways of strengthening tourism competitiveness and operating task force.

Last year, the number of tourists to 279 provincial tourist attractions was 51.33 million.
