According to Yonhap News,
The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said on September 27 that BioSilk Festival will be held from September 30 for ten days to promote the excellence of silkworm farming industry in Chungbuk.
Minister Suh Gyu-yong will participate in the opening, encouraging organizers.
Korean silkworm farming industry declined due to its weak price competitiveness, but started to recover in 1995 when silkworm are proven to have effect on lowering blood pressure, enhancing immunity and memories.
The number of silkworm farming households increased to 6,908 as of last year. The production amount approached KRW 45.3 billion.
