According to Yonhap News,
Chungbuk (northern Chungcheong Province) has outlined a plan to build an educational theme park around Sangdong-ri, Wonnam-myeon, the birth place of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk, held a briefing session where the Chungbuk Development Institute made a presentation on the result of the feasibility test of establishing the theme park on the 3.3 mllion square meter-site.
The institute suggested establishing the educational theme park, which includes the National Flag Plaza, UN Educational Center, UN Cultural Center and Climate Change Exhibition, for children and teenagers.
During the session, other participants also came up with various ideas, such as building the Rock Face Sculpture Park, Global Food Town, a boot camp, swimming pool and sled resort and an art museum and arboretum.
Some expressed the opinion of developing the area into the educational special zone by attracting provincial foreign language educational institutes.
Eumsong plans to implement the project until 2017 after holding another briefing session and deciding the final development plan.
The restored house and memorial of the secretary general and the Peace Square are included in the project.
