Yeongdong-gun, north Chungcheong Province, the only grape and wine industrial complex in Korea, will be aggressively engaged in benchmarking Australia's wine industry.

A delegation consisting of 27 members including Governor Jeong Gu-bok and winery owners will visit Adelaide and Sydney, globally well-known wine production regions, from April 16.

They will visit the National Wine Museum, located at the downtown of Adelaide, and then learn how to brew and distribute wine at the Barossa Valley, the largest wine production region in Australia.

They will also visit a wine school at Hunter Valley to watch the wine production process and learn how to taste wine.

"The tour is designed to know the global trend in the wine industry and learn lessons from Australia's experience of developing wineries into a major tourist attraction, which will contribute a lot to the development of Yeongdong's grape and wine industry," said a Yeongdong official.

Yeongdong, which accounts for 13 percent of the nationwide grape production area, plans to increase the number of wineries to 100 by the end of this year.
