According to Yonhap News,
Korea-Germany Stem Cell and Regenerative Medical Research Institute will be built in Osong Cutting-Edge Medical Complex in North Chungcheong Province (Chungbuk). Berlin-Brandenburg Center for Regenerative Therapies (BCRT) will participate in the project.
Chungbuk Governor Lee Si-jong, Director of BCRT Hans Dieter, President of Chungbuk National University Kim Seung-taek and Executive Director of Osong Cutting-Edge Medical Industry Foundation Yun Yeo-pyo gathered at the Chungbuk local government office to sign a cooperative agreement to build a research institute.
The research institute will conduct study on tissue engineering, analyze single cells and develop sensors. Chungbuk will send researchers to the BCRT, and Chungbuk National University and Osong Cutting-Edge Medical Industry Foundation will participate in R&D.
"The research institute will play a key role in developing Osong Cutting-Edge Industrial Complex into a worldwide bio medical hub," said Kim Mun-geun, a Chungbuk official.
