North Chungcheong Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology was given the go-ahead to establish a wine research center from the Rural Development Administration (RDA). The institute is required to secure a 50,000 square meter-site and employ additional seven researchers. If completed, it will be the first wine research center in Korea.

The institute will inject a total of 6.03 billion won including 2.9 billion won and 3.13 billion won, to be financed by national and city budgets, respectively, into building the research center by 2014.
