According to Yonhap News,
North Chungcheong Province (Chungbuk) has unveiled Bio Valley Master Plan that is designed to develop Osong into a self-sufficient city focusing on the bio industry.
Some suggested the idea of integrating Osong KTX Station area and Osong Bioscience Technopolis and High-Tech Medical Complex, both of which are being constructed, into the Bio Medical Hub.
Sunjin Engineering & Architecture, tasked with conducting a feasibility test for the plan, came up with the idea of dividing the 1.62 million square meter-Osong KTX Station area into six functional sections.
Chungbuk will build a transfer terminal, convention center, department store and large shopping mall around the station. It will also establish an administrative cultural complex where Cheongju-Cheongwon consolidated city hall, museum, bio laboratory center and library will be located.
In addition, the integration of Osong Bioscience Technopolis and High-Tech Medical Complex will make Osong a medical tourism hub by attracting general hospitals, clinic centers and accommodation facilities to the region.
Chungbuk also demonstrated its long-term development plan to connect Osong's Bio Valley to Jecheon's Oriental Bio Complex and Okcheon's Medical Equipment Complex.
