According to Yonhap News,
Hyundai Mobis, Korea's largest automotive component manufacturer and supplier, will establish an eco-friendly Hyundai Mobis Forest in Jincheon-gun, north Chungcheong Province in partnership with the Jincheon local government.
Prof. Choi Jin-u of the University of Seoul in charge of the feasibility test on the forest project presented surrounding environments including geological features and animals and plants living there.
He came up with various ideas to create a unique forest taking advantage of the surrounding environments.
The local government and Hyundai Mobis plan to make a final decision on the project in next April or May and start construction in next June after taking residents' opinions into consideration.
Hyundai Mobis will inject a total of 10 billion won to establish a 108-hectare eco-friendly forest by 2021 as an effort to promote low-carbon green growth and implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. After the construction is completed, Jincheon will be responsible for the management of the forest.
The forest project is expected to be an exemplary case of co-development of a company and local government in that Hyundai Mobis can improve its image as a green company fulfilling the commitment of CSR and Jincheon can have a specialized tourism attraction.
