According to Yonhap News,
North Chungcheong Province (Chungbuk) unveiled the final plan to develop Osong into the world's top seven bio medical hub.
Chungbuk will attract eight institutes including the national aging research center by 2017, eight institutes that specialize in heart, lung and blood by 2025 and ten institutes that will conduct research on bio convergence and application technology by 2035 to Bio Valley, a bio medical complex to be built in Osong.
Chungbuk is also reported to consider establishing a Korean-type Bio Police that will operate facilities to support venture companies and global research institutes having difficulties in financing infrastructures.
Moving forward, it will expand the bio industry across the whole province.
Jecheon and Danyang will develop into an expo cluster for oriental medicine industry, Okcheon into a medical device cluster, Goisan, Boeun and Yeongdong into an organic food cluster, Jincheon and Eumseong into a cosmetics and chemical industrial cluster and Chungju and Jeungpyeong into a bio energy and high-end material industrial cluster.
"We will implement the plan to evolve Osong into a worldwide bio medical hub," said a Chungbuk official. "A total of 8.9 trillion won is expected to be spent for the plan."
