Farm experience town Handeumy Village in Danyang has been recognized as an eco-village for the first time in Asia.
According to the Danyang County Government, Cologne-based TUV Rheinland visited the village and awarded it with “eco-village and eco-tourism certification.”
TUV Rheinland, founded in 1872, tests and validates the safety of hazardous substances in electronic equipment, waste electrical and electronic equipment, medical apparatus, telecommunications equipment, and automobiles.
The eco-village and eco-tourism certification is awarded to organizations that prevent environmental destruction by tourists and run eco-friendly tourism businesses.
“The certification proved that the village is the best farm experience town in Korea. We will provide satisfying services to attract more tourists,” said Jeong Mun-chan, chief representative of the Handeumy Village.
