Okcheon announced Tuesday that Cambell grapes produced in Okcheon will be exported to Vietnam.
According to Okcheon, a trade mission from Okcheon signed a memorandum of understanding with Dua Dua, a Vietnamese agricultural products importer, Monday to export grapes of five tons and grape juice to Vietnam.
The trade mission of nine representatives including Mayor of Okcheon Kim Young-man and officials from National Agricultural Cooperative Foundation of Korea visited Vietnam and Thailand to penetrate their agricultural markets.
Okcheon will also hold events in Vietnam in September to promote Okcheon grapes.
Okcheon was awarded with the grand prize of the National Brand Awards of Korea for consecutive three years, for its grapes, and is tapping overseas market starting with Indonesia in 2008.
Okcheon also exported 14.2 tons of grapes to New Zealand and Malaysia after it has been praised at The Food Show held in Auckland, New Zealand last year.
Mayor Kim stated that the grape exports grew consistently over six years despite difficult circumstances, and added the city will focus on improving the quality to make the Okcheon grapes be recognized globally.
