Chungju mayor Lee Jong-bae signed a contract for industrial sites in Chungju with the BorgWarner BERU Systems Korea and Nexpolis today.

BorgWarner BERU Systems established a plant in 1998 to produce ignition coils and solenoids.

Investment of KRW 15 billion will be made by 2016 to build a manufacturing plant of 6,500 m2 on a 24,000 m2 site in Chungju.

Mayor Lee visited the BorgWarner BERU Systems in Germany last November to meet Vice President and President and General Manager Brady Ericson to attract foreign investment.

The city will provide administrative support for basic facilities and necessary approvals.

A city official noted that active investment in Chungju by many companies will contribute to the regional economy, adding that the city is focusing on attracting more domestic and international companies.

BorgWarner BERU Systems which supplies to Volkswagen, Toyota, Hyundai Kia Motors and Ford, has six domestic plants and 66 plants and offices in 19 countries.
