North Chungcheong Province will hold the 2014 Osong International Bio Exposition in time for the completion of the Honam junction station of KTX Honam line.

The expo will be held from September 26, 2014 to October 12 for 17 days in the Osong Bio-Science Complex, according to the province yesterday.

Total KRW 23.2 billion will be invested in the expo, which will be jointly hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Cheongju City and Cheongwon County.

The expo will be held when the junction station of KTX Honam line and the Osong Industrial Complex No.2 are completed.

The province plans to maximize the effect by holding the expo when biotechnology industry policies bear their results.

Secretary General of the organizing committee for the expo Lee Cha-yeong noted that the expo aims to evaluate the North Chungcheong’s bio industry and build a mid- and long-term development model, adding that the organizing committee consisting of domestic and international experts will be founded at the end of September.

The province will hold a biotechnology-related international event in 12 years since the Osong International Bio Exposition in 2002.

The expo in 2002 was the first international event that the province held.
