(OKCHEON = Yonhap News) Okcheon-gun in North Chungcheong Province will soon start developing the second Okcheon Medical Equipment Complex as a new growth engine of the region’s southern area.

Okcheon-gun will invest KRW 50 billion in a 495,000㎡ site to construct the complex by 2018.

The complex will be developed by the Chungbuk Development Corporation through a public development method. Okcheon-gun will be required to take over any lots that remain unsold two years after the completion of the complex.

Okcheon-gun built the First Medical Equipment Complex in 2011.

A machine equipment company and medical equipment company have already moved in and seven enterprises plan to move in. A hundred percent of the complex has been sold.

The complex includes a 5,000 ㎡ site for a strategic industry cluster for startups and nine enterprises have moved in.

Okcheon-gun is constructing a support center in the complex, including a sterilization room.

“Okcheon Medical Equipment Complex, along with Jecheon Oriental Medicine Biovalley and Osong High-tech Medical Equipment Complex, will build a new industrial cluster in North Chungcheong Province. After the design stage and land purchasing stage, we plan to construct the complex no later than 2015,” said an official from Okcheon-gun.
