(CHEONGJU = Newsis) “Oh-song International Bio EXPO 2014”, the ambitious project of the North Chungcheong Province, is now 330 days away from its grand opening.
Chungbuk invited Lee Si-jong (Governor of the North Chungcheong Province and Chair of organizing committee), Han Bumduk (Mayor of Cheongju), Lee Jong-yoon (Governor of Chengwon) to hold “D-330 Ceremony” on 31th at provincial government building and Millennium Town.
The ceremony was held to wish the success for the EXPO 2014.
The province granted the appointment letters to 98 members of organizing committee and asked for full support for the EXPO. The committee consists of 9 government ministry delegates, 4 lawmakers, 28 mayors and governors of various cities and districts, 20 representatives of academic and business sectors.
The province plans to increase the personnel of the organizing committee to 200 by recruiting local personnel and bio industry experts.
“The EXPO will be the turning point for Chungbuk to go beyond South Korea and become the world-class bio valley.” Governor Lee said in the ceremony event. “We ask for continuing interest and participation from the people of Chungbuk and all others nationwide.”
Oh Young-kyo, chairman of organizing committee, said that “EXPO will offer the quality services and conveniences to visitors, and support businesses to achieve their business goals”. He also added that “The committee will also attract both domestic and international top companies and conventions to the EXPO.”
After the ceremony, Governor Lee and other attendees headed to the Millennium Town, the venue for “Oh-song International Bio EXPO 2022”, to participate in the sculpture lighting event.
Attendees of the event wished that they would carry out the EXPO as successful as the last one 12 years ago.
The fire on the sculpture will light up the Millennium Town until the EXPO ends in 2014.
The EXPO is cosponsored by the North Chungcheong Province, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, city of Cheongju, Chengwon District near Oh-song KTX station, from 26th of September to 12th of October, 2014.
The main theme of the EXPO is “Life, A Secret to Beauty”, and it will consist of exhibitions, academic events and business forums.
Total of KRW 23.2 billion, which include KRW 6.7 billion (government expenses) and KRW 11.4 billion (district expense), was invested in the EXPO.
The target number of visitors of the province is 100,000, and it also expects about 220 companies will participate in the EXPO.
