According to Yonhap News,

(JINCHEON = Yonhap News) Chungcheongbuk-do kicks off its construction of the nation’s largest solar energy research and experiment center.

According to an announcement by Chungbuk and Jincheon-gun on January 14, a 4,900m2 general solar battery technology support center will be constructed in 14,000m2 site in Jincheon-gun.

A total of KRW 48.4 billion, including government fund of KRW 25.3 billion, provincial fund of KRW 16 billion will be invested in the project. Korea military and Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL) will also invest KRW 360 million and 350 million, respectively.

The center will be run by Chungbuk Technopark, and will carry out certification process and experiment for solar batteries.

It will also be responsible for fostering experts and promoting new market openings as a business incubator center.

The construction project was approved by the Ministry of Security and Public Administration in last July.

The province and Jincheon-gun plan to commence the construction in October this year.

Also, KCL plans to build an all-in-one solar power research center by October, and a global climate change multi-environmental experiment center by 2018.

An official of Chungbuk said that the center will focus on certifying and examining solar batteries, and will provide a great deal of support for Korea’s solar power industry.
