According to Yonhap News,

(GOESAN=Yonhap News) Large-scale seafood complex business is well underway in Goesan County, North Chungcheong Province.

According to Goesan County on May 7, the county plans to invest KRW 21.7 billion in Goesan-eup to set up a fresh water fish farm, processing facilities for seafood, Research and Development Center for Seafood and logistics facilities.

The seafood complex will be the first large scale complex facility in central part of Korea. Construction for the complex is scheduled to be completed by 2016.

The county plans to finalize working design of the facilities by November and then start land compensation for the site.

The construction recently gains momentum after the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries designated the county as ‘Inland Water Farming Complex’ in March.

“Goesan County is located in the central part of the country and sources of the rivers of the Han, Geum and Nakdong. So the county has the best conditions for fostering the seafood industry. ”said a county official. “The county will work hard to make seafood a new growth engine of the region.” he added.
