(JECHEON=NEWSIS) Jecheon City, North Chungcheong Province, announced on September 11 that the City will invest KRW 38 billion by 2018 for the development of the rice industry.

The City established the measures to develop the rice industry in order to resolve concerns of farmers following the rice tariffication announced by the government last July.

The City predicts that the rice tariffication will hardly damage the farmers due to the high tariff rate.

Nonetheless, the City implemented measures to develop the rice industry to strengthen the rice industry and to resolve concerns of farmers.

Jecheon will invest KRW 38 billion in not only the development of the rice industry but also 18 other support projects by 2018.

"We hope the City measures and the government’s rice policy will be of a great help to the development of the rice industry," said a Jecheon official.
