(CHEONGJU=Yonhap News) The world's largest craft festival has made an all-time record of 630 million won (US$555,000) in its ninth edition completed this weekend, organizers said Monday, with hundreds of thousands of visitors flocking to this central South Korean city to appreciate fine craftwork on exhibit.

More than 310,000 people visited the 2015 Cheongju International Craft Biennale in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, despite the recent scare over MERS, a viral disease that has killed 37 people in South Korea this summer. The Biennale ended its 40-day run on Sunday.

The sales figure represents 60-percent growth from the previous edition in 2013, the organizing committee said.

More than 7,500 crafts from 45 countries were displayed at the event.
