(DAEJEON=NEWSIS) Daejeon City announced March 8 that it will select five promising small- and medium-sized companies (SMEs) in 2016 to nurture them as global hidden champions.

The selected companies will receive maximum support of KRW 600 million for two years in the research and development sector and up to KRW 200 million for three years in the overseas marketing sector.

The beneficiaries should be SMEs that have headquarters in Daejeon with sales between KRW 10 billion - KRW 100 billion (KRW 2.5 billion for software companies). Also the share of direct and indirect exports should be more than 10 percent of the last year’s sales.
